ROME: Israel has serious reservations about the Iran nuclear deal being put together in Vienna, new foreign minister Yair Lapid told his American counterpart, as he pledged to fix “the mistakes made” between the two countries over the past few years.
In their first face-to-face meeting since Israel’s new government was sworn in two weeks ago, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Lapid said they would also discuss Israel’s normalization accords with Gulf Arab states. Blinken said he would also be raising the issue of humanitarian assistance into Gaza.
Blinken said the US supports Israel s normalization accords, but they cannot be a substitute for engaging in issues between Israelis and Palestinians.
DUBAI: Almost half of surveyed UAE consumers said they expect the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic to last another year, new research found.
Spending habits in the UAE have evolved because of the health crisis that pushed industries to the wall, according to a study commissioned by global consulting firm Kearney.
Sales of essential items, including food and beverages, have shown a sustained increase, while spending on non-essential goods have continued to drop.
The study showed 73 percent of consumers have admitted to changing their shopping habits, including buying more expensive items than usual.
“The pandemic has fundamentally changed the way consumers view health and safety measures and efforts. As residents adapt to the new normal, hygiene and hygiene transparency have become vital,” Debashish Mukherjee, head of consumer industries and retail practice at Kearney Middle East.

DUBAI: It goes without saying that spending a long time in the sun can have extremely dangerous long-term side effects.
No matter what your skin tone, the sun’s rays can lead to hyperpigmentation, premature wrinkles and most seriously skin cancer.
“A suntan is a sign that the skin has been damaged by ultraviolet rays,” Dr. Nabeela Rashid, dermatology and cosmetology specialist at Dubai’s Medcare Hospital Al-Safa, told Arab News.
“When your dermis is exposed to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, your skin increases the production of melanin as a way to try to protect your skin from further damage. This extra melanin gives suntanned skin its darker appearance,” she added.
